Learn to teach Alaska Water Wise, Alaska's state-approved boating course, in the Alaska Water Wise Instructor Course.

A one-day instructor course designed for AMSEA Instructors and others with teaching experience covers the content of the Alaska Water Wise course and policies and procedures for putting on your own safe boating class. A three-day instructor course for those without previous teaching experience offers an additional two days of effective methods of instruction and opportunities for practice teaching the course material.

A curriculum with content outline, ready-to-use PowerPoint slides, handouts, a set of hands-on activities and skills sheets, a 50-question test and key will be provided at no cost to course participants.

Alaska Water Wise topics include:

• Trip planning and preparation
• Cold water survival
• Navigation rules
• Boats & boat operations
• Signals
• Boating emergencies
• Legal requirements

By successfully completing this course, those wishing to teach Alaska
Water Wise in their communities can meet many of the requirements for certification as an Alaska Water Wise instructor, and placement on the Alaska instructor registry.
