Since 1985, AMSEA has been dedicated to reducing drowning rates and increasing safety in Alaska and across the nation’s commercial fisheries. Safety education gives mariners the tools they need to return safely to their families, friends, and communities.

 

​Making an Impact Through Training

AMSEA’s Commercial Fishing Training Program has trained over 18,000 mariners in survival equipment and emergency procedures, directly contributing to a decline in fisheries-related drownings. In just the past five years, 86 AMSEA-trained fishermen reported surviving life-threatening emergencies at sea.
