Recreational Boating for Beginners

AMSEA will be offering a Recreational Boating Course for Beginners in Sitka, Alaska beginning on May 18. Students new to boating are highly encouraged to take all 7 classes of the series to give them a solid foundation for boating and cold water safety. The 7 courses will take place from 6-8:30 pm on the following dates and cover the following topics:

  • Monday, 5/18, Pre-Trip Planning

  • Wednesday, 5/20, Boating Environment

  • Tuesday, 5/26, What Ifs (aka: emergencies)

  • Thursday, 5/28, What Ifs (continued)

  • Monday, 6/1, Engine Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Wednesday, 6/3, Boating Skills

  • Saturday or Sunday, 6/6 or 6/7, On-The-Water Training (time & location TBD)

The cost for the series is $140 and the first class meets at the Blatchley Middle School Library from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM on on 5/18. The locations for subsequent classes will be announced in class. Register online or call AMSEA at (907) 747-3287.
