USCG Phase-Out Life Floats & Rigid Buoyant Apparatus

Jeff Pearson

The Coast Guard is phasing out approval of life floats and rigid buoyant apparatus as survival crafts. As a part of the Coast Guard Authorization Act of 2010, no survival craft will be approved unless that craft “ensures that no part of an individual is immersed in water”. Any crafts not meeting this standard will need to be replaced by February 26, 2016. Read more in the official notice here.
