Spring 2016 Newsletter

Jeff Pearson

The Spring newsletter is here! Along with daffodils and an early crop of salmon berries, this spring brings the first cruise ships of the year to Southeast Alaska. If you operate your boat in the vicinity of these behomoths, you'll want to read Tomi Marsh's newsletter article, Close Encounters of the Worst Kind.

In addition, you can read up on the U.S. Coast Guard's Automatic Identification System (AIS) requirements that came into effect for commercial fishing boats longer than 65 feet this past March. Also in this edition: that cheap Coast Pilot edition that you bought online might not meet your vessel's carriage requirements. Click on the picture and read all about it and more!
