No Change to Alaska's Self-Quarantine Requirements for Fishermen Arriving from Out-of-State

Commercial fishermen heading to Alaska for the summer may have hoped they would get some relief in the state's update to COVID-19 Health Mandate 010: International and Interstate Travel – Order for Self-Quarantine. The update gives many travellers to Alaska the option to avoid the state's mandatory 14-day self-quarantine requirement as long as they obtain a negative result from a COVID-19 test, no more than 72 hours prior travel.

However, the test option does not apply to commercial fishermen travelling to Alaska. According to the state's official guidance, "Arriving commercial fishing vessel crewmembers or independent harvesters must follow the procedures in Health Mandate 017 – Protective Measures for Independent Commercial Vessels."
